Teacher: Monika Jessel

Monika Jessel

Hi, my name is Monika Jessel. I was born and raised in Hamburg, in the northern part of Germany. This is where I received my degree in Social Pedagogic at the College of Education.

Since then I have been working with children of various ages and settings for the last twenty years. I have been working at the German School San Francisco as a teacher from 1998 to 2002, when I needed to take a break to adjust to my promotion to Executive Director at the Grattan After School Program, a very challenging and rewarding position. Since the beginning of this school year I once again enjoy teaching German to young children in the familiar and supportive atmosphere of the German School! In my spare time I like to read, take long walks with Murphy, my West Highland terrier, cuddle with my cat, Bali and travel as much as I can.

TA: Owen F.

Hallo!  I was a former student at the German School and now I am a TA.  I have been a student at German School from 1998-2009 and became an assistant on and off since 2016.  I like to surf, hike, make contact with the international space station via ham radio, and stargaze!  During the summer, I work at Surf Camp Pacifica and go to Germany/Austria when I have the time.

I am also a Flight Instructor and fly the C172, C182, DA40, and DA40NG.  (I teach on C172 G1000)  I am currently working toward my multi-engine rating and plan to fly the DA42NG (an Austrian plane with 2 engines that I cannot afford).  I hope to fly for an airline in Germany or Austria!  Bis Bald!
