Some info about our school and philosophy:
The German School of San Francisco is a non-profit organization founded in 1935. The purpose at the German School is to further the study and use of the German Language and to provide students with better access to the customs, history and culture of German –speaking countries. We strive to create a warm, supportive atmosphere for learning where teachers are responsive to each child as an individual. We want children to feel special and important as they work, learn and play in a safe and protective environment. We believe all children have different learning styles and that each child develops at his/her own pace. Especially when learning a new language, children need to feel secure and to be actively involved in the learning process, experiencing a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials. We recognize that young children learn through play, movement, music and hands-on activities, and our curriculum incorporates traditional children’s games, puppet theater and play acting, and songs, arts and crafts of Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Each semester concludes with a festive celebration at which the classes perform for friends and family and the school community.

We look forward hearing from you!
